Guest TAlchemist
Well i know it has been awile and i guess most people have all forgotten about me but i thought i could give a little update and see the comments anyone wants to make. I got my 5.7L 350 SBC rebuilt and just ready to go, took alot of time to get the money for the parts but its done as soon as i pick up my starter today and mount the alternator. This christmas i got myself a running 700r4 from a 92 Firebird V8. I am planning on cleaning it up this week(exterior) and then bolting it to the engine and start test fitting and mount fabrication. My thought is to drop the trans pan and inspect the oil for color, material, and wear on the parts then replace the filter and put it back together. Leaving the 700r4 stock for now just to get the engine broke in and the wiring for the vehicle done. Do you think that is ok since the trans came out of a working car. My engine is bored over with a mild cam and other than that mostly stock. I plan to later on add more power to it with performace heads but till then i dont think i need the trans rebuilt and upgraded. I want to upgrade it later with the engine so i can do it all myself. How does that sound?
80LS1T
Sounds like you've got a good plan to me. If your engine is just "warmed up" with a cam then I would say you should be safe with a stock tranny. It all depends on how you abuse it. Guest TAlchemist
yeah i was thinking of just getting it broken in, running, and all systems tested. I dont expect any abuse but i may do a fast acceleration but not a drag race. It has stock tires and suspension so it wont do too much no mater what. Guest TAlchemist
Well i dont know why the alt bracket didnt work but on a whim i bought a second set of them and this time they fit and lined up with a little prodding and bending and a new alt. i hope i can get the transmission cleaned up and mounted soon so i can begin fitting the thing in the car and worry about fuel and wirring.
