Zerrari GTO
Is it better to have the dipstick located on the passenger side or the driver's side? (does it matter?). My set-up will be an old school 350 (after market aluminum heads) and a WCT-5 tranny. I did a search and did not find an answer except for one member cursing for getting an engine w/ the dipstick on the passenger side (he didn't explain his frustration). Thanks! Guest Phil1934
Doesn't matter. He might have been cursing as oil pan has to match block so it may have cost him a new pan.
WickedWild
That was probobly me cursing. The "80's" sbc have the dipstick on the passenger side. The older ones have the drivers side dipstick. The problem with the passenger side ones is that no one can seem to figure out a working aftermarket dipstick, I went through 5 of them. I eventually ended up going to the dealership and getting an oem. Niced painted engine and I love my valve covers, one ugly oem dipstick that I still had to bend to work.
