Guest greimann
It is the lead photo in an article about building a car on the cheap. Ok, it's only one picture of a burnout, and apparently right after the picture was snapped, the guy lunched his trans and never made the run, but hey, any press is good press! silicone boy
That was the Grassroots Motorsports 2002 Challenge--build a car that accelerates, turns, and looks good for $2002. The take home message for me here was that it's a lot cheaper to do a project if you find a parts car for your buildup. I passed on several Z's that I could have had for a couple of hundred bucks. I've spent several times that in spare parts already. On the other hand, my wife would have killed me if I kept a junky parts car around. pparaska
Yeah, I was going to write Hotrod to straighten them out. They said if the trans didn't puke, the rearend would - man, those 'merican only guys think anything made in Japan is weakly built.
Guest LIghtningZ
Took a second this morning to write to hotrod and tell them what a low blow that was... got an answer back directly from David Freiburger (chief editor) and he said that the two owners of the car emailed him and they had got it fixed and managed an 11 sec 1/4mile.(no MPH given)just thought i'd let y'all know!
