Guest kc6wfs
Well good news. Fired the V8Z up again today. Got the new starter bolts and a new starter. No problem there any more. The Holley 750 was dumping gas past the pistons, So I rebuilt it this morning also. Changed the oil, thinned by gas. Set the float level then fired it up! Roar said the little motor that could! Roar. I ran it for over a hour while I was doing little tweaking with mixture, timing, etc.. Waited for it to warm up, then sure enough the SPAL fans kicked in right at 185. Good sign!! One problem I noticed was the idle is ruff. Not sure if it's from the cam, I'm going to install new wires and dist cap and rotor. Also the tail lights and backup lights are on. I have never seen the backup lights on before as it has never been hooked up before. Where should I start looking for something shorted or what? I did put a brand new ign switch in last week. Well I think that it with the problems. Looks like Sat I'll drive it over to the muffler shop and see what they think as far as costs on new exhaust. Thanks..
