Guest tony78_280z
Found this tid bit of info I recommend to get an 1987 or later 700R4. 86' and older 700's have a reputation for problems. If you stick with 87' and newer the tranny will have a 30 spline input shaft and a 27 spline output shaft. This allowed me to re-use my drive shaft yoke from the Turbo 350. I got an 86 motor. What spline is it? And will the 87 or newer (30 spline) fit the motor? (I hope, I hope) How many splines does the 86 and older have? An additional question; are all TV cables, brackets and carb connection pins the same for every model of tranny? Or when I upgrade to a 700r4 will I need to replace all or part of these components as well?
Jolane
Tony, The spline count should not matter as far as engine choice. The torque converter and output yoke would change though, so if you already have those, you may want to check first. I am not aware though the the spline count changed for the 700R4's when the cases changed. The difference, from what I know, is that the later cases have a big "K" cast into the bell housing area. This "K" case is stronger. I can't help you about the TV cable, but I am sure http://www.Bowtieoverdrives.com. Joshua
