azguy
I am looking to buy a ALDL connector for my 94 LT1 4L60E. There are several places selling cables. They all run about $90 for the new ones that go to usb and not just com port and have housings for the 12 pin and 16 pin - my laptop is too new and doesn't have com port . There are cheaper "kits" that you have to put together . One vender wrote that the 12 and 16 pin "connector housing" was pricey and affected the price. Well I found this one on ebay for pretty cheap possibly because it does not have one of the "housings" on it. Seems to me like it shouldn't matter and it looks like it would work for me if I bought a usb to com converter. $45.00 including shipping. What you guys think? Wonder what cable Tim is using. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7946079266
Tim240z
I bought a cable from Andrew at AKM electronics....like you said ~$90. If I were you, i would keep things simple and buy a used laptop (cheap since it doesn't have to be very fast), and get a cable and use that laptop for tuning only. That way you can keep any software interaction problems to a minimum. Tim
azguy
Just a quick follow-up. I decided to go with cables from akm http://www.akmcables.com They now carry ALDL cables that go to usb:2thumbs: for no additional charge.- also still carry the ones that go to the older comm port.
