73speed
well first of all after many years since my last Z I had to get another one( my fourth). So I'm glad Hybridz is still here. I aquired a 76 280z this time, got it running fairly good except that I'm having clutch problems. I have a 5 speed which I believe is not stock, the engine was replaced prior to me buying the car so thats not original either, which is fine for now until I go ls1 in 2006 I hope. anyway, I thought I had it fixed somewhat but the gremlins are back. I changed the master cylinder, slave, and hard line, even the flex rubber hose to a braided one. I can't seem to nail the problem. It's hard to shift into gears and reverse, I don't believe the clutch is slipping cause it grabs good, and will stall imediately if I let go of the clutch without giving it throtle. also 5 th gear will violently kick out all of a sudden when cruising on the freeway. If I take off fast ( burning rubber) I can shift to 2nd and grind going into 3rd. I also noticed after taking a quick look underneath it appears to be a centerforce dual friction. I'm wondering if I should just replace the clutch but I don't want to spend $ if thats not the problem. has anyone had this type of problem? your help is appreciated. Synlubes
The main shaft nut may be loose. (depending on what year 5 speed the trany is). If there isn’t any internal damage you might have success replacing the nut, filling the trany with some quality lubricants and put it back in.
