280Bob
I have a few questions about choosing a wheel for my 280z. I would like to run a 16x8 wheel. I have read in some old posts that others on here are running 16x8 with 5" backspacing and a 12.7mm offset. Is this the best setup to run with stock fenders and MM coilovers? I would like to have a nice sized lip on the wheels and I am not sure if the above setup would need to be adjusted slightly to achieve this? Finally, I am installing the S12w calipers with vented rotors and I would like to know if the above setup will clear these brakes? If not, any suggestions for a more optimal setup would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob
Guest 305240
Take it down to one of the big tire shops. Have them put your car up on a rack and mount one of the wheels you want. Then you can check if everything will clear. Everyone around here will do it for free. Some may even put a tire on the wheel for you too. jt1
I'm running 16 x 8 with 5" backspacing, with 12" spring coilovers and 245/45/16 tires. Fender lips are lightly rolled. Some people have gone a little larger on the rear, using short springs, but I like to be able to rotate my tires and wheels. Search and read some more, there's a ton of discussion on this in old posts. John
Tim240z
Same as John, but with 10" coilovers and no fender rolling. Plenty of room.
