possible coolant leak on ls1?

update-finally pulled the engine and tranny from the donor car last week and separated eng from trans. only 20k miles and the clutch looks like it's on the way out & flywheel needs turning. curious is the tan/light brownish color residue around the backside of the engine-0.25" either side [top/bottom] of the head gaskets. there's also a white powdery residue that looks like remnants of a leak down the middle of the [backside] of the engine. funny, when i drained the coolant it was green. isn't the ls1 supposed to use the funny colored stuff? anyone have any ideas on whether i need to replace head &/or intake gaskets?

Was the radiator smashed in an accident on the donor? My motor was covered with the white residue and yes, the coolant should be an orange color (Dexcool). However, the parts stores now sell a green colored antifreeze that is supposed to mix with any color. It is possible that the radiator, or a hose spewed fluid onto the motor if the car was wrecked. If not, you may want to replace the gaskets. And while you are at it, port and polish and a new cam! ;)

maichor, thanks-no the radiator was in tact when i received the car. althought it looked like the previous owner started to fix the car. the hoses looked like the originals and it didn't appear that either the radiator or even ac condensor was touched. the car was hit in the right front and did some damage to the suspension components & steering rack. it may make sense to just replace the gaskets while i have both time and it's out of the car and easily accessible.
