zero
I live in new jersey, and it seems to be impossible to buy a Z anywhere near jersey that hasnt been completely restored and is near $10k. I just want a decent running, rust free Z and it is killing me to find one. All of the ones i have seen have seriously rusty frame rails, and after seeing pete p's work I dont think i have 13 years to get a car running. I intend to have this car for my daily driver when i go to college but I cannot my hands on one. Right now I am left with a few options, ship one from cali or somewhere near, fly to cali and drive it back( duno if I'd wanna drive a car that old that i havent worked on, 3 thousand miles), or pay alot for a nice one around here. If any of you guys have suggestions, please tell me. I am dying here, i went to a Z show and saw really beautiful ones and i cant get one grr thanks for listening and for your help. ZR8ED
Well.. Up here in Canada.. the winters can be pretty brutal on Z's, but there are many up here.. and restored ones are not uncommon.. Now you say "big deal".. but.. the US exchange rate makes prices pretty good up here.. for eg. my mech sold a low mileage 260 with recent rebuild, headers and webers.. body kit, G nose, lowered with custom rims and ground effects for 8K.. sound like a lot?... thats only about 5K US after all is said and done.. and this was NICE.. no rust. only 48K miles. Black on black.. good paint and tires. There is one more for sale up here. 275hp l28, webers, coilovers, lsd, sway bars, bushings, two sets of 15x7 rims, roll bar, ground effects, dual exhuast with supertrapps, paint is ok, interior is good, white with black interior.. oh and a set of steel rims for storage.. can steal it for 7k cdn I think. zero
monkeys, i dont really have 4-4.5 k to spend on a z, but that one sounds pretty sweet. Thats everything i want to do with my z short of an engine swap. Man i need some money. Maybe i can get a loan...
Guest Anonymous
You can buy a pretty descent Z in the mid-atlantic area for around $2500.00. May need paint, but for a solid, good running car that's a steal.
PETEW
Zero, I know where you are coming from. I was looking all over PA and there were too many pieces of junk that guys were selling as cars. Unfortunately everyone in the East coast thinks they have a gold mine sitting in their back yard but all they have is a rusted out old car that has been put to waste because they don't take car of them. I had to go down to South Carolina to get a solid car that wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I'm sure alot of the guys here would tell me I paid too much for it, but I wanted it bad and it was a solid running car that could make the 600 mi journey. The car was originally from El Paso, Texas and then made it's way to Carolina. The problem with the upper wast coast is the winters and all the salt. Take your time finding the car and you will get a solid car. Look for a 280Z, they are cheaper. The 240Z just isn't cheap any more and the 260 isn't much cheaper. I'll keep my eyes out for you. Good Luck.
Guest Anonymous
dont be decieved.... there are not many z's down here that are in good shape. but, if you cruise the countryside long enuf you'll find a deal like i did. a low mileage '77 with NO frame rust in all its original slendor. a little surface rust on some body panels, but nothing major...... also no wreack damage, with perfect interior. all it needed was to install the intake manfold back on to drive home...... got it for 800 bucks! nic
