L28 casting numbers?

Hi there, I wondering if anyone out there could help me out in determining what year my L28 block is, I have looked around and could not find any listings. The block say's: L28-096813, it has a P90 head. any and all info would be greatly appreciated, thanks

thats not cool at all..

 

but scarab, does the block say F54? The P90 head came on turbo F54 blocks and those came in 81-83 years.

i forget when the P90A head came into play so i could be a little off.

but did your head and block come as one?

I know, but I am glad someone is willing to help with his question, maybe I can learn something.

you can learn alot by searching on this site.

 

no joke dude everything you can think about has been asked and answered atleast 50 times on here before.

reason being is so many ppl do the same thing and run into the same problem.

 

im not one to learn from either, im on here everyday to see what everybody else does and builds, i cant compair at all to some of these guys and there cars.

but i bet ya 100 bucks if you really search and look things up you will always find your answer.

Careful. That statement will rub a bunch of people the wrong way and, in my opinion, is completely untrue. This site is full of extremely helpful people that are always willing to help out. That being said, we all prefer that everyone use the search function liberally before posting because many questions have been asked and answered before.

 

On to the question: Assuming the head and the block are original to each other, the engine is likely an '81 or '82. The block casing code will likely be F54 (look under the exhaust manifold, behind the motor mount for the code). If the head were stamped P90a it would be an '83.

 

If the block is an N42, you don't have an original head/block combo so, it'll be hard to say what year it is.

You misunderstand me... I was not saying that to be tacky or flame anyone, BUT, it is true that someone wanting to know something will get little response if it is a common question. Believe me I know how it is... I am on a mustang board and have to answer all of the same questions over and over (gears, tires,best tuner,headers, etc), but I also understand that sometimes people don't know where to look. So if it does rub people the wrong way...sorry,this is a board to help people.... thats just the impression I have received after getting very few answers. And regardless of how "true" or not it is as a whole, that's what has happened to me.

Thanks for the help! I have a N42 block with the P90 head, the engine came in my 240z track car and I know very little about it. I just ate up the head gasket, oh well...

Second, there are very few 260Z owners on this site to answer such a broad question like what are the common problems with a 260Z!!!!

 

It would seem that if you have had the experience of posting on the Mustang boards you would act and post accordingly on this one......

Like I said, this is not a flame fest. I am new to owning a z. I didnt know there were specific forums dedicated to electronics, also, I was not notified that there were few 260 owners on this site. I dont know whether or not my electronics are different due to the fact that I found out I had a 240 engine (which is in the sig btw) The mustang board is not set up like this one, so, sorry for the inconvienience, if I had been told when I posted it what forum to post in, I would have "acted accordingly". Realize that guys that are used to domestic engines are sometimes starting over when dealing with an import. Especially one that is 30 years old. As far as I am concerned, the topic is closed. I will try to post in the right forums, and I am sorry for hijacking this thread.
