Guest vvillium3
hello all, (81 280zxt turbo f54 block/p90 head currently stock) I tried seaching this but no help.... so here it goes... the guy machining my block needs to know what size to hone the cylinders to. Since there is roughly 6 tenths (.0006) difference between 1mm and .04 I was wondering what size to tell him??? The metric or english size??? Also, I originally planned on buying the regular oversized pistons from victoria british, but now that the machinist has taken a while to get to the block I have been able to save up enough money for the forged pistons... My question being is how bad is the piston slap during start-up if I am going to drive the car basically every weekend(second car)???? My goal is about 300whp and maybe a little more as the years go byas I continue to upgrade. Is it really worth it coming from somebody with experience, or is it overkill and should I just stick with the victoria british ones??? thanks alot, Jason Coleman
Tim240z
You really should supply him with the pistons prior to any machine work being done. He should measure the pistons and add the necessary clearance, then bore to that size. To get the right piston size, pick the largest of the bores (if worn unevenly), and use that as a guide.
