Guest Graffix
Allright i know i havent posted in a long long long long time not since like 2003 or 2004 but he is what I have going on with my Z, Allright here it goes I bought a 81 turbo Z and took the engine out the ECU and all that good stuff, Now I put all my N/A mannafiolds and all that on this engine and removed the turbo and all that, I dont see any of this as being a problem if someone else knows that this just wont run please tell me. I have this engine all bolted into my 76' 280Z 2+2 all the wiring is hooked up and I have no power no lights and get nothing even when ingintion is turned on. I went out and bought a voltage meter and started testing stuff in which I see that the starter is getting all the volts that the new batery I bought is getting, but I have no power any place else. I dont know what to do next some advice would be really helpfull because it has drove me to drink now and I got a pretty good buzz going. I need to get her running so I can drive it as a main car seeing how my sunbird died. So if anyone has some advice please lay it on me...... Of and by the way I was thinking about possibly selling all the turbo stuff intake, exuast, ecu, downpipe turbo and all that good stuff how much would you guys ask for that setup? akeizm
There are 3 wires that connect onto the starter, 1 is the main feed from the battery, 1 is the main earth and another one that supplies power to the rest of the car. the main feed from the battery and the wire to supply the rest of the car usually bolts onto the solinoid on the starter motor. Check there 1st. Next look at your fusable links, if they have a crappy connection or broken then you wont get any power to the rest of the car again. Whittie
running a turbo motor without a turbo will get you NOWHERE!!!! turbo motors have low compression so that they can be force fed. take out the force feeding and the motor makes no compression and therefore no power. i know when the intercooler pipe blew off my dads supra and the turbo's stopped powering the engine it was akin to driving a 3000+ pound corolla..... NOT FUN!!!!! i suggest you try driving the car without the turbo's and see for yourself, then it'll probably be a good idea to re-install it all. why would you wont to buy a turbo motor and then not have a turbo car anyways???!!! i thought the whole point of going turbo was for more power not taking turbo's off, selling then to cover expenses and then have a gutless heap of metal. Guest Graffix
the only reason I did this was because I didnt have the time to mess around will all the extra wiring, I need this car to be running by the end of this weekend because I need it as an everyday driver atleast till I get a differnt car to replace the sunbird. So no power at all huh? Jezzz what will it be next im just having a horrible week and I can deffintly say TGIF. Oh and all my fuseable links are good I checked them with the multimeter. And down at the starter I have power but beyond there I think that there is none. Anyone else have any ideas?
Guest Graffix
Well i figured out what my problem was a little while ago, I was just so fustrated that I didnt see the white wire that feeds the fuseable links. My father came over today and pointed that out to me. Also over the weekend I bought a Dodge Dakota Sport with the 3.9 liter V-6, This is my first truck so im excited about it. Sometime this week ill get all the fluids in the Z and get it going once agian and see if its gonna be a dog or not seeing how I put all the N/A stuff on the turbo engine. Ill let you guys know how it is once I get it done.
