Bartman
I installed my new block hugger headers from ThermalTech, and they look and fit great. I need to get an exhaust system made, and I would like to drive the car to the shop (with open headers). The headers don't have the bungs for the sensors, so can it drive without them installed? I figured the bungs would be installed on the exhaust somewhere around the transmission area, or is it better to be on the headers themselves? The big question for now is there a temporary solution that will allow me to drive without the oxygen sensors properly installed?
Dan Juday
Start 'er up. If everything else is working fine it will run in open loop mode. It will run rich and have poor fuel mileage but it wll run just fine. On the Tomahawk we had the bungs put in the head pipes right after the headers and they worked great there. wheelman
Bart, I ran mine without the O2 sensors but had to unplug the MAF to get it to run decent. I put my sensors in the same place Dan put his. Aimed them toward the front of the car and they cleared everything with plenty of room for removal if I have to replace them. Becareful you don't get pulled over by the cops driving it to the shop with the open headers, I don't know how loud yours are but mine were very loud. What are you planning for the rest of your exhaust system? I just posted another sound clip of mine with the complete exhaust and a short description of the system. Again we are running in parallel, I just got mine back from the exhaust shop on Friday, although you look to be pretty much set in the body work area where I haven't even started yet. Bartman
Thanks Dan and wheelman, I started her up without them yesterday and it seems to be running fine. I will be careful driving it to the exhaust shop because it is pretty loud:twisted: . wheelman, I'll check out your new post about your new exhaust setup.
