tach not working with msd

76 fuel injection white wire to - side of coil and + to red on msd runs great but tach don't work any body know how to make it work

By not working, you mean the needle is'nt moving, or is it jumping around like crazy?

 

Also is this a performance tach? if it's the original try soldering a resistor to it, I dont remember what amount, but I do remember that bryan little talked about it more in depth on his website http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001.

 

Hopfully you didn't hook up the tach directly to coil, the high voltage would usally fry the tach...goodluck

msd 6 box has a male spade in the box for a tach. try moving tach wire on coil to the tach jack on msd box.

If you don't have one already, you're going to need a tach adapter, available from either MSD or Crane (same part #'s). Costs about $25 or so.

im runnin a 6al, and a mallory coil right now. the msd is wired directly into the tach wire, id have to look at the car to see what one it is

This is going waaay back, but seem to remember guys removing and bypassing with a jumper, a larger resistor on the back of the stock tack.

I too am running the stock tach off of the tach output on the msd6al. Just run the stock wire over there and it should work. No resistor or diode needed.
