VG30DETT Pistons/Rods in a VG30ET??

Hi all, Ive heard a couple different things on this but from my understanding VG30DETT Pistons and rods will fit in the VG30ET with no modification or any other parts from the TT motor correct? I plan on buying some TT Eagle Rods and TT Diamond Pistons but I want to be 100% positive they will work.

Thanks

they do fit perfectly as OneSickZ said... however i found out recently the reason not to use them is the difference in the heads. you can use the rods just fine but you'll need custom made pistons. the rods/pistons use a floating wrist pin instead of a pressed in pin which is supposed to be better so they're supposed to be a good upgrade however the combustion chamber of the VG30DE(TT) is smaller than the combustion chamber of the VG30E(T). basically this mean the compression ratio will be a lot lower if you put DE(TT) pistons in a E(T).

i'm not sure how much lower the compression ratio will be but it'll be enough that it'll probably make it a dog off the line.

personally i'd go to a place like BRC to get some custom made pistons for the TTZ rods with a 9:1 compression ratio. that should give awesome strength with very quick spooling of the turbo and a lot more power all around. more importantly, you'll have much better low end response with the 9:1. comparing my maxima's 9:1 VG to the jdm 8.3:1 vg-t that i put in it, it now is a lot harder to take off from a stop than it used to be. down the road i'd like to put a 9:1 vg back in it.

the 88-89 VG's in the Z31 use full floating wrist pins, so you could use those rods or the rods that eagle makes for the VG30ET as well as BRC or JE pistons made for the VG30ET in just about any compression ratio you could want. Essentially there is no reason to use DETT stuff unless you got a good deal on it used or something.

I've had all of the different compression ratios of VG30ET and I would have to say 9:1 is closest to ideal for a street-driven turbo car. Obviously, if you're going for HUGE (600+RWHP) power, you would be better off with a C/R between 7.8 and 8.3:1

I now have a chance to buy a set of eagle rods (for a TT) and a set of weisco Pistons (for a TT) for a awesome price just want to make sure they will absolutly positively work before I buy them. I think I will pick them up they are rated @ 8.3 :1 compression and i am questimating it will actually be around 7.8: 1 due to the different cumbustion chambers/cylinder heads like mentioned above but that is exactly where i want to be
