clayborne
Hello all and thanks ahead of time for reading my thread. Anyways i have a couple of questions that i could not find answers too so i thought i would rattle them off and see if i could fish up any answers. I have a 79 280zx and i am converting over from stock intake manifold and throttle body to a n42 intake and a 240sx throttle body. After close inspecion of my curent set up and reading the haynes manual and tracing vacume lines i have hit the road block that may de-rail my future plans. From what i understand for propper ignition timing to be maintained the vacum advance must be opperational. So my first road block is my vacume advance seems to be routed through the bcdd valve at the bottom of the throttle body if I go with the 240sx throttle body does this mean that the vacum advance will not function properly. also people have been flaming the n42 on here because it causes vapor lock in the injectors. How bad is this really? Have only seen a couple of people complaining about it. Also I was planning to leave off the air regulator will the car run without it. And lastly would any of these things before hand affect the airconditionig fast idle function.

TheNeedForZ
About the throttle body vacuum line thing : I think you can get a throttle body spacer that provides a vacuum outlet. The spacer is constantly listed on eBay. I didn't pay much attention to the maker because I was switching to triple carbs anyway. My 280Z ran with N42 intake before I started taking the car apart. No problem back then. You can find out about the air regulator question. Try running the car without it, if car runs worse then put the regulator back. TheNeedForZ
It's been only a day. I am sure people with first hand experience haven't had a chance to look at this thread.
