Guest tony78_280z
With an automatic transmission (Chevy v8 with a 700r4) supose you removed the drive shaft and threw it in the yard somewhere Put the car in gear (D) and a foot on the break (to keep it from rolling) then proceeded to rev the motor Would the transmission shift gears thinking it was driving down the road? Or would it just rev up in 1st? Thanks
v8dats
i think it may shift but not for long. if you pulled the shaft out it would spit out all the tranny fluid and you would have one hell of a mess. i have put a car on jackstands and let it go thru the gears but never without the drive shaft. what are you trying to acomplish? is it a hate crime?lol! patzky1
Sure it would shift through the gears, it would be the same as if you gunned it on ice. HOW it shifted would still depend on throttle position even with no load. But, it would probably puke ATF like said. Pat
