Guest go rilla
i have searched about this swap over and over i have 20 mins before work and i am still on the cpu trying to gather information so i can think about them as i work my job to help make time fly. from the searches i got that the actual cost of a swap into a straight body, rust free, rolling chassis to be anywhere from $3k-$40k. those prices probably vary b/c everyone of us has a different goal for the car and have a different idea of what a spirited drive on late night weekends on the freeway. i am just asking you guys how much it would cost for a swap with my info. ive got a great quality rolling chassis (76 280z). i do not plan on tracking the car or doing any serious drag racing. basically i just want to drop in an ls1 with a 5 or 6 speed tranny and call it a day. its most likely going to be my daily driver so reliability is an issue. i am not planning to make a racecar or anything i just love the older z models body styling and want some balls to back it up a bit. i def. do not own the tools nor the equipment to attempt this swap myself. as much as i want to, i think its wiser for me to have a shop do it since i dont even have space in the garage (living with parents). so with that info given anybody got an idea? TIA!
DaleMX
4K to 6K for the LS1/T56 alone. Maybe another 2k to 4k for parts and lots of time. Whenever you say LS1, just add an extra 0 onto all the prices. Edit - If a shop does the work it might be an extra 2k or more for a running setup.
