spineless
I purchased a 1981 280zx turbo and found that it does not have the CAS down by the pully. I pulled the dist cap off and found that it's in the distributor. I'm thinking it must be an 82 or 83 but the rotor does not look like the ones found on those model years. How do I find out what model year distributor I have?

TheNeedForZ
Does the distributor have a cable coming out? If it has a cable leading to a round plug with 4 connectors, then it is a later dizzy. If there is a shiny disk inside with tiny slots around the circle then it has the CAS. I am in a situation exactly like yours, bought a 81ZXT engine but when I got it the CAS is in the dizzy.
