Z0wner
I am curious about these engines... I have searched all over this website and haven't found my info. I am curious as to what vehicle the sr20det originally came in? a 240sx? Also wondering what would be the best way to purchase one of these engines... via a donor or something else? Is the swap into a Z harder than a small block swap?
Guest ON3GO
yes came in the JDM verson of the 240sx called the Silvia. those cars also came with a n/a version and the 180sx (our fastbacks) came also with CA18DET's. they came in a FWD version in another car but the RWD trannys wont bolt up to them. swap might be a tad harder then a SBC but only because theres only really one place to buy mounts and etc. still not so hard. mike
ProjectSR20
Check this post. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=77192 It will tell you alot. Probably the easiest way to purchase the motor is to find a shop that imports JDM motors. The swap does involve a fair amount of custom fabbing. Alex at Vildini is the master when it comes to this. He can make motor mounts for you.
Guest 81na ZX
yes came in the JDM verson of the 240sx called the Silvia.those cars also came with a n/a version and the 180sx (our fastbacks) came also with CA18DET's. Later 180's/fast backs had sr20's. CA18DET was only in the 88 and 89's. I thought they were the same bellhousing pattern... lern something new everyday. FWD they were in Pulsars, Sunnys, Bluebirds(Altimas) as turbo motors. Sunnys and Pulsars could also be AWD. FWD they were in all the above cars and Sentras and 200sx here non-turbo.
