I've lost my JTR book in the time it took me to get my working 280z tach, what resistors do i need(am i just turnign a POT)? I remember about 50% of what needs to be done i just need know what resistor? or what ever.... or if someone can just sell me a converted tach for a 350 Chevy or tell me someone in the 818 area code (san fernando valley) Id much rather have them do it since i screw up stuff like this all the time

280zwitha383
You say '81 280z? I'm not sure if they're the same but my tach in my '82 280zx did not need a resistor (when I put one on in the first place it didn't work right so I took it off and it worked fine), just adjust the screw in the back of the tach. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Duff
Bob88 is correct. JTR says "A 15K(15,000)ohm resistor(1/2 watt) (available at Radio Shack must be installed in the blue wire going to the "TACH". If the resistor is not installed, the tachometer needle will bounce all over the place"
280zwitha383
Did they make a 280z and a 280zx in '81? I posted my response thinking he meant a 280zx because I didn't think they made 280z's in the '80s.
Guest tony78_280z
Z ended in 78. 79 was ZX
