Guest PROJECTRB240SX
I Ordered A Msd Dis-4 And Splitfire Dfi Coils... And I'm Trying To Map Out How I'm Going To Wire It All In. I Need To Know How The Nissan Coils Work.... Are They Constant Voltage (always On Power) With A Trigger Wire Or Are They Alternating Voltage (power On When Signal Fires) With A Signal? The Reason I Ask This Is Because The Coils Are A Three Wire Setup And Msd Says I Need To Tap Into The Power Side Of The Coils And Intercept The Signal (which Is Either A Dedicated Signal Wire Or The Negative Wire On The Coil). Also Anyone With Experience Does Any One Know If I Need To Use The Splitfire Booster Along With The Msd Dis-4 Or Can I Elminate The Booster Pack And Use The Msd Dis-4 For The High Voltage Supply? cheftrd
Wire the coils just how MSD shows. The coils are constant power. You can use that lead for the power to the DIS. The third wire from the coils is a ground which has nothing to do with the pos and neg from the DIS; this wire gets bolted to ground. If you still have the SR coil harness, you will see that all these wires terminate into a single loop for bolting to the engine (ground). All the coils get power from a single wire. That wire splits off after the igniter coupler and the #1 wire turns black. This wire is extra long with a loop for connecting an inductive timing light. Don't make it too short.
