pjo046
Well, I have the block on an engine stand, and the crank, rods and pistons are taken out. Does anyone have an estimate of how much the empty block weighs? I am thinking of taking it off the stand, but can I carry it or is it to heavy? zuhow
I carried the whole bottom end from the car to the work bench (10 meters or so) without too much trouble, so you should have no problem carrying the block alone. I'd say it's 100lbs or so (45 kg).

Jolane
Maybe I am weak, but that block is rather heavy. I would get someone to help you, maybe two if possible. I put my block on my engine stand by myself, and it was a royal pain (did I mention heavy) trying to get the pipes lines up and inserted. Please be careful if you do it yourself! technicalninja
I've done it myself as well but it is a grunt. Much easier and safer to have someone help. Coming off the stand is not so bad (normal strength average man) but going back on is difficult. Two weak people can handle it with ease so you can ask your girlfriend/ Wife is SHE would like to participate in your project. Teenagers work well to- and complain less about the grease.
