Got a deal on an engine and tranny

Dam, just after I got my Z home, my stepfather calls me and says his boss's daughter has a 1970 Impala for sale for 500 bucks. No big deal right, the thing is probably a POS. Come to find out the engine is a low mileage crate engine with 202 heads and performer intake, all in all 5k worth invested in it bolted to a rebuilt turbo 400 trans. Does it get any better? 2thumbs.gifrockon.gif

Good find.. After you remove the perfomance engine, what may prove beneficial is the 1970 Impala Body or assorted parts may have a good resale value of $500.00 plus or minus which would be your purchase price. It is amazing the resale value of old chevys placed on them by the baby boomers.

im not mad at the 400 at all, that trans will dish out some pain, but yes the freeway will suck-but hey my trans of choice in any v8 car is the super t10/ or a m20-21 bar none. my issue with it is that its way too big to fit in the tunnel without lots of hammer blows, i would go with 700r4 or 2004r if you could find one. its very wide.

Just got an update:

The car was picked up by my stepfather (my parents live in the area adjacent to the sellers location) today and he drove it around. At least 5000 to 7000 invested in the engine was his estimate, in his words its a rocketship!! And in a heavy ass impala also. im a wee bit excited rockon.gif2thumbs.gifcheers.gif
