V8 Z's-L6 Z's

Everytime someone sees my Zcar(still has L6) They always say, "You gonna put a 350 in it?". I'm tired of saying,"Yeah, eventually". Appearently there are more V8 Zcars here in Richmond than there are L6 cars. They are all Drag Only cars, as far as I can tell. So hopefully mine will be differant from them(LT1/6spd/huge brakes/ road race suspension, and Japanese styling i.e., ZG flares and Fairlady Z mirrors and emblems).

I just wanted to know if everyone gets that response from people. Do the guys with built L6's get,"You shoulda put a 350 in it"?

Also, while I'm at it. Do these people think the "350" is the only V8 that people put in Zcars? Or, do they think the "350" is the only V8 in the world?

Honestly guys, I'm putting a "350" in my Zcar(although it will likely be a 396 stroker by then). I just don't think that spending huge amounts of money on a L6 for 300whp is worth it to me. My LT1 makes 340rwhp in my heavy Camaro, and it has 106K on it. ZXT parts cars are getting hard to find around here, and RB26 will require high dollar ECU stuff.

I was just venting to you guys about this, as it has bugged me for some time now. I'm not arguing which is better V8 or L6. I'm just venting. Later

Geez, I know how you feel man. Except, I'm not being asked if I've got a 350 in my car. Everywhere I go I'm constantly asked, "Is it a TT?" And naturally I say no, so then they ask, "Well, why don't you put a turbo on it? Or why dont you sell it and buy a twin turbo?"

People like that aggrivate me for a couple of reasons:

A) My car is my car, if it's not what they like, screw 'em, they can go bug someone who has what they're looking for.

B) I'm going to do the mods I want to do, and they'll be done wher they're done. I'm not going to take sterotypical suggestions from creatons.

C) Maybe I don't want a twinturbo! I'm throwing an LS1 into my Z and it'll still be NA! So next time someone asks me if it's a TT, I'll simply say no as usual, but then I'll say, "It's NA and you still can't keep up!" :D

Don't let that stuff bother you. Granted, it can be frustrating when you are going to do a huge modification and all you have to do is wait until you can do it. (i.e. me being at school and having to wait until christams for my swap) Just tell the people that you have "plans" for your car and if they want to know more, keep the information basic and let them find out how it runs when it's done! 2thumbs.gif I'm looking to turn some heads, and I know that 396 stroker with the j-spec styling is going to REALLY get some attention!

Good luck to you, and dont let the aggrivation of those people get to you. I'm used to the whole, "Is your car a TT?" question, but now I know I've got BIGGER plans that will really make those people look at my car and say, " "

LaterZ!

amen brother! hail.gif

the majority of people down here think that old z's are for drug dealers. i never get any comments on what i should or should have done under the hood. hell, if you see the majority of z cars down here you would puke. most of them are owned and driven by low down ghetto scum who dont care what their car looks like anytime, anyday. you will constantly see new cars these people to buy, saving up for years living off rice and beans only to crash it drive around with the bumper hanging off and not even give a damn. im just happy to own a z that looks half decent and still runs with average sports cars every once in a while.

now if i was to take a trip to where you live, id probably simply tell them to shut up, at least it runs. 2thumbs.gif and KraZeeZX, im glad to see that you are doing what Nissan should have done in the first place. Stick a v8 in there (even though you arent doing a nissan v8).

David ... the same kind of owner pride seems to infect the northern region. Do you know what kind of substance or its source that usually covers the exterior of these abused cars.

Sounds like it's time for the short but sweet answer. Just look them in the eye and say, with a hint of a grin, "Because I want a FAST car." burnout.gif

Folks down here are pitifully ignorant of what the car is in the first place. The usual sort of reaction I get is "Man, I love those early Porsches!" 15 years ago when I got my first Z, folks actually remembered what it was. Memory has faded, I guess. either that, or they just don't recognize a Z that isn't rusted and dented like it's been on a two week trip through hell.
