tkach
I just wanted to post to say I finally got My Z to fire up. Well knida. I had to pour gas in the carb because I decide to swap out the little 650 cfm 4 barrel for a 750 Holley double pumper. So my fuel line is too short, and I didn’t finishing wiring the fuel pump. I have exterior lights, except for the tail. My dome light works. And some of the interments seem to work however none have lights. I cant figure it out. I never seem to use the right phrase in the search function.I was also wondering if anybody has had an issue with running block hugger headers and burning up their starter? Jegs sells a pretty cheap starter heat shield. Thinking of buying it any suggestions ? I always wanted to make this post ! However I still am yet to drive the Z. Oh well I got to hear it run and it was something that I have been waiting to hear for some time now. Im so excited this post is so random I apologize for that. 280zwitha383
It's exciting to see how excited you are If you want to hear the thing run for a little longer hook up a hose to some sort of cup and gravity feed it. Be very careful pouring gas straight into the carb because if for some reason you backfire out of the intake fun things start to happen. I wouldn't know from experience on that one or anything.... A. G. Olphart
Pretty Great! You have an almost roadworthy Z and only a 5 post count. Maybe the search function does work. Congratulations! .
buZy
I wrapped my starter with one of those heat blankets. It worked actually solving the typical hot starting problem...
tkach
BuZy thanks for the info on the starter heat shield. I don’t want to have to replace that, not much slack on the wires running to it. I had to fly back home yesterday so the Z now sits again on the other side of the country from me. Thankfully my friends agreed to hook up the fuel line and make sure that the Z gets safely in the hands of the car shippers. Sadly im not going to be the first to drive it. I love the search function, that and for some reason I seem to occasionally have too much pride to ask. Which is retarded. Thanks to everybody for all the help.
