DarrellBuddy321
I bought a new t3/t4 t04e as you guys recommended on the forums. Now im trying to understand if and how im suppose to use the oem wastegate. My other question is, is the 5 bolt discharge flange different? My oem t3 discharge flange does not line up, the bolt hoels are off. And what about the down pipe, do i just go custom?
thehelix112
You might be able to simply swap over the T3 side from your old turbo if its a similar size. I have NFI re wastegate lining save: a, didn't it come with one, and b, won't the one from your old turbo bolt on? Downpipe, yes custom. 3" at the start with a splitter to separate the wastegate and main wheel flow out of the housing. Dave
DarrellBuddy321
i believe, but i need to double check, but the t3 side of my turbo is bigger than stock now. What is NFI?
thehelix112
No ******* Idea. You're up for a new dump it sounds like. Dave
DarrellBuddy321
so im guessing external wastegate and custom downpipe is my only alternative?
thehelix112
The t3 housing should still be internal wastegated. I thought you were just talking about bolting the actuator on? Dave
DarrellBuddy321
the actuator rod is too short, and like i said the oem 5 bolt dischrage flange dosent bolt up the pattern is different
thehelix112
Can you make up another bracket that puts the actuator closer to the flap lever? Dave
DarrellBuddy321
okay so im not sure about this, im going to the store tomorrow, but i beleive i have a ford type 5 bolt dischrage flange? Im going to try to pick up a new wastegate discharge flange tomorrow. But as far as my actuator goes, i noticed that on the oem turbo the actuator is twisted or pulled a little bit. Do i replicate this wen creating my new bracket?
DarrellBuddy321
anyone?>
zguy36
It's hard to give you a reply since we can't really see what you are working with. Just make your bracket so that the wastegate will open all the way when there is pressure applied to the diaphram and closes tightly when there is no pressure. That is all that really matters when installing the actuator.
DarrellBuddy321
okay i gave in... I went with a 38mm tial wastegate with a .8 spring.
