How do I know what kind of 280z rearend I have.

I read on someone elses post that the 280z came with either a r180 or a r200 rearend. I am sure there are some kind of badging on the rearend that would tell me what the hell I have. How do you identify the difference between the two? Any pics or links will be greatly appreciated.

I found a good quote by Z-Tard

An R-200 will have a kind of Stop Sign shaped rear cover. The R-180's is more of a rectangle.

 

The r200 mustache bar that bolts to the rear of hte diffy will also be behind(toward the rear) the uprights if it is a r200.

 

here is a picture of my r200:

A r180 will look much narrower then that.

You're gonna have to do a search of all the forums. I know that there is one that has pictures of all the different diffs, but I can't seem to find it. Perhaps someone who's been around longer will help you out and post one?

But Ill answer anyway, Just look under the car. The r200 when looked at from the back looks more like a square. The r180 is shaped like a rectangle taller then it is wide. The r200 mustache bar that bolts to the rear of hte diffy will also be behind(toward the rear) the uprights if it is a r200.
