Z0wner
Alright, this may be a very stupid question but I am going to ask anyway. I have finally got some money, so now I am going to try to get the tools required for bodywork. What are the key tools needed for doing body work? Obviously a welder, DA sander, and a air compressor, but what else is needed? What I have: DA Sander Air Compressor What I need that I thus know of: Welder Auto Rotisserie PickleX 20 I don't have a lot of money, so these tools can't be super expensive, but I want something that will last. Thanks for your time, Z0wner
Oleh
-air compressor, 12cfm+ -Welder = stick to MIG, TIG is a great thing, but it will take more time, patience, money, expreince, etc. Look into Lincoln or Miller or Hobart. I like the Lincoln Sp135T - basic air compressor tools - sander, etc -grinder, etc -the rottisserie, i went to harbor freights, bought two of their engine stands, ( the expensive one's ) and then welded a 5" plate to them, to make them higher, welded a adapter to the original ZX bumpers, and it all works. you could check out some plans, on this site. http://www.autobody101.com/ - you will need Zero Rust or POR15. - sandblaster/media blaster -good paint gun then misc things like sand paper, cut off wheel, wire brush, etc... Guest Trudge
If your on a tight budget, and need tools for one or two jobs, then you might consider Harbour Freight. The price is right but keep in mind that their tools are not for the professional. They won't last under demands of daily use. I originally went with air tools but have since reverted back to electric. The tools I use most often are: 5" Random Orbital Sander 5" side grinder Body saw ( small ) Lincoln 125 Mig Welder Welding Hood with Auto Tint is a must have! Drill, get a good one. You will use this a bunch Wire wheels ( various sizes ) for the drill - rust removal Body work hamer Body work dolly's RustMort fom SEM ( Protects bare metal and neutralizes rust )
