Guest Anonymous
Sorry to bring this up again but this is the one section of the car that keeps on giving me alsers every time I think about it. My problem is that my CV shafts (that is...the length between the input mounting face and the output mounting face) are going to need to be no more than 11" long. This seems very short to me especially since it means that the misallignment angle fron suspension movement will probably be +/- 20 degrees. For somebody who knows how CV shafts work...is there a slip joint in the actual metal shaft or do the actual joints move in and out providing room for suspension movement? If the shaft does move in and out, would it be possible to have a shaft made that CV joints could be fitted to on either end? I think I'm definately going to be spending the big bucks on a pair of custom shafts...I just need to know if it can even be done before I start making the rear spaceframe. If this is going to cause me a huge amount of trouble in the form of non-reliability than I'm just going to go with a solid rear end and forget the whole IRS thing. HELLLPPPPP!!! pparaska
Yes, ther is a sliding joint at the outer end of the 280ZXT CV shaft. COuld it be put at the inboard end of the shaft? Don't know. I'd start by calling Mardi at Raxles http://www.raxles.com . Then maby call the guys at: http://drivetrain.com/index.html Also, maybe pickup a copy of a road and custom mag and look at the advertisers. Keep us posted! Sounds interesting! ------------------ Pete Paraska - 73 540Z - Marathon Z Project - pparaska@tidalwave.net">pparaska@tidalwave.net -
