Guest iskone
Ok so I totaly forgot to let those of you who don't know how to get things from overseas for as cheap and as qucik as possible how I do it. When shipping overseas you pay for SIZE more than weight, keep this in mind. I ship a 370lb 300x140x60 shipment to Japan from the Seattle are every couple of weeks I forget how much it costs, but the same dimension to Switzerland is $430. This goes EXPRESS by plane and all I do is make a phone call fill out some paperwork and tehy pick it up, normally the same day. My usaual shipment gets to Japan within 2-3 days from the day it's picked up. Here is the company I deal with NNR tlak to them about the cheapest possible method and they'll instruct you how to get it done. No. I don't have some special contract with them so anyone could call and get the same price. Anyway thought this could be of help to a few guys. Tim240z
From my experience having stuff freighted overseas, is that you have to have a business account with the shipper (excl. UPS, FedEx, DHL), otherwise they will not accept the shipment. Something to do with new Homeland Security rules. I tried to ship some parts to my Dad in S. Africa, and had to use USPS in the end. I live within spitting distance of the Cargo terminals at LAX, so I figured it would be easy....drive over, drop the box, leave.....I tried them all, even consolidators!!!
