chopstic81
i cant seem to find much info on n/a builds here. I want to get some decent power out of my L28, maybe somewhere in the range of 180-190rwhp plus a 100 shot nitrous. I'm looking for any suggestions to get there, i'd also be curious in hearing about all your guy's n/a l28 setups.
Mack
well, I can tell you what I have done to mine. stock flat top block, Maxima N47 head w/"C" stamp camshaft (256*) felpro gasket, port matched non EGR intake with injector bumps removed, port matched 60MM TB, mildly ported head and a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust, 3" cone airfilter... I had this dyno'd once. a bad Ignition Control unit limited me to about 4500RPM under WOT. the number I saw on the screeen before it shut me down was 141RWHP @ 4200 RPM not too shabby. it was heading for about 170 or so peak. the stock FI system sucks too. it goes linear over about 3500 rpm or so, and its lean to start with, so add a mild cam, more airflow (ported head and what not) and 3 points of compression (calculated to be 11.7:1) and you start to see detonation. Silent
how to get 192 rwhp. n47 head {z head} 3.1 stroker, on flat tops msa 460 cam su carbs sm needles n36 intake runners msa 3-2-1 header 2.5 from collector back to a straight thru muffler msd 6al, late 260 elect dizzy 36 degrees of total timing on 100/91 mix octane fuel. this should get you close to your goal. this is my current set up. it put down 192 rwhp, and over 200 ft lbs on a dyno jet just a thought. many ways of doing it, mine is not the most cost effective
zeiss150
here's my story... F54 block (rebuilt with flat top pistons .020) N42 head (rebuilt) e88 intake MSA header 6-2-1 2.5 inch exaust 81 280zx dizzy and coil (rebuilt ) SU's with SM needles 2mm HKS steel head gasket(I wanted lower CR so I could run crappy 91oct) Schnider cam 460 lift 270 duration schnider performance valve springs (no valve float) New 3 row radiator stock K&N air filter my motor has a CR of 9.2:1 I haven't had it dyno'ed but Its a fast N/A Z. I can kick a G35's ***! but I don't even mess around with WRX's. but........... I wish I would have built a turbo... cause thats what im doing now. I used to think that 180 rwhp would be enough ... but its never enought... never! Good luck, let us know what you build.
