Guest sdoyle
I just found a 78 280z that has been sitting outside for awhile. It is in remarkably good condition for the amount of time it has been out in the michigan weather. There is virtually no rust on the body or underside of the car. After looking under the hood I found a few problems.... Most hoses are rotted and need replaced. There looks to be some sort of home made block heater installed? The rest of the wiring looked kinda hacked up but not too bad. I have a 77 280z that is undergoing a turbo swap and aftermarket ecu. I would like to use the 78 as a daily driver because my cherokee caught fire last week and completely burned out. I have the wiring harness and many good parts from the 77 (it was a running car before the teardown) Do you guys think I could take the parts from my 77 and use them to get the 78 going within a weekend and at minimal expense? Keep in mind this car has been sitting in a field for 3-5 years. What are the first things I should do to try and get this car running? (besides, starter, battery, changing fluids and replacing broken fuel/vaccum hoses) I am not experienced with bringing a car back from the dead and am not sure what other things go to hell when a car sits. Any input would be helpful. Thanks
