The front struts I used are 200sx se v6 with z31 hubs rotors and calipers. The steps would be the same for any car with strut type front suspension. I saw something like this done on a couple Z31's as well. 446lb springs is overdoing it though IMO, especially for such a small car like a 510. But if you enjoy it, awesome. However, I think a lot a stress will be on that point where the coilover lower housing overlaps the stock housing and on the weld it self. I would maybe reinforce that area. I know its too late, but I think you should have not cut so much off of the stock lower housing so that there would be more surface area of the stock one peice housing under the new coilover housing. cyris3d Posted October 27, 2006 Share Posted October 27, 2006 Im pretty new to custom suspension.. Ive only dealt with straight bolt on full coilover setups on my s13. Now doing it this way looks like a feasible solution to a full coilover setup. Then just take the camber plate from the s13 coilover set up and weldit to the strut tower like you would any other camber plate for the Zcar. Seems like a great Idea.. but im having a hard time with cutting up $1300 Stance coilovers. The possibility of cutting them too short or wrong would make me sick to my stomach. So how would one go about making sure that the right amount is cut off the lower housing so the fit would be just right? If you took an extra set of stock Z suspension and made you new custom coilovers the same length as the stocks, it should fit just right?
