v80z
On a JTR mounted 1st gen can you change from a stock oil pan to a 7-8 quart with kick outs without renmoveing the engine? Anybody done it?
getZ
I can remove my oil pan wihthout pulling the engine. I changed timing cover up front and landed up using a one piece gasket on the bottom. It takes a little manuevering, but it can be done. I have my engine set forward as far as it can go with a JTR kit so the crossmember sits further underneath the engine than some others. getZ
By the way, the lowest point on my car is the oil pan and the transmission pan. This is a stock 350 oil pan and a 2004r tranny. If your car is lowered with a bigger pan it will get that much closer to the ground. I've seen some other posts with people complaining about full length headers having fitting problems with oil pan kick outs.
Dan Juday
The issue with a pan with kick outs is room for the exhaust routing. Pulling it out and replacing it are no problem with the motor in place. I've done this as well on my car. Made changing the oil pump a walk in the park.
