Guest vanir97
Okay this might be for the older folks on the board like me 55+ Does anyone know who makes the intake gaskets with the screening that covers the gasket. It was a racing trick to better atomize the fuel as it pass through the screen and went into the head. Summit used to carry them a while back, but not now according to the tech guy. Anyone know how to make them, and what type screen was used, and how they were afixed to the gasket itself. Since my 350 has the old style double bump heads it might be a good addition. grumpyvette
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?lang=-1&catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=18035&searchItemId=41267&CT=999 be aware that they work great at lower rpms, and help gas mileage in a few cases, but restrict flow in the upper rpm range
280zwitha383
That's very interesting. It seems very restrictive but I guess if you were running low rpms it might be beneficial (like a big block with 2.XX gears). What happens when a cylinder backfires out of the intake? Does it blow the mesh out or is it strong enough? Would you personally ever put a set of these gaskets on an engine Grumpy?
grumpyvette
yeah we tested these a few years ago on a couple engines, at low rpms the do help smooth the idle and can increase the mileage due too a more consistant and fineing a/f mix, these would work great on a motor homes bbc with an auto trans, but you can feel the restriction on some engines on peak power.
