george.bryant
WHen i start up my car the idle is crap. Really low like 400rpm. If you hold ur foot on the gas for about 30 seconds at 1000 rpm it warms up ok. I turned up the idle thinking it would sort it out, but now once it reaches operating temperature the idle goes upto about 1100rpm. I've been trying to get it right for the last week but I cant seem to sort it out.
Bernardd
Your air regulator valve (I think that's the right name) isn't working. Set your idle when the car is warm. That's what it'll idle at all the time unless you fix up your valve.
nienberg.11
I'm having a similar problem and my air reglator is disconnected. The car idles ~2000rpm when cold and after a few minutes of driving settles to anywhere from 1000 to 1300 rpm. If I turn down the idle speed the car will come close to stalling out when the throttle is closed suddenly. I chalk that up to crappy engine management (MSNSE is already partly built), but can't see why the idle would change so dramatically. aarang
On my N/A 280ZX I have the AIC valve, and cold start injector removed and it takes a while with my foot on the gas to get it warmed up. Once it warms up, it is fine. I think either the AIC or injector/thermotime switch in your case is not working. I wouldn't even bother with it. Just remove it and warm your car up yourself! It's just like the way carbs with no choke react when cold. Remember, think "I drive an older car with personality!!" Aaron
