240Zed
A friend of mine has a turbo from a VG30. He was going to use it in his project car (TX-3), but has lost interest and is selling the turbo. He said it was a newer ball-bearing turbo. I was wondering what sort of turbo was on the VG30, and would it bold onto a standard L28 turbo manifold. I'm guessing no, as when I searched the forums I couldn't find an answer, one way or another. Anybody have the L28ET flange dimensions? Lurch2461
VG30 BB Turbos have a stock T 03 mount flange and bolt straight up to the L28ET exhaust manifold. I'm going thru the same exercise now and I'll try posting some pics of it mounted up. If your in Oz it might be easier to send em to you direct. Kennysgreen280zt
I used a VG30et (Z31) turbo on mine. You have to re-clock it, and fab a little bracket for the wastegate actuator to bolt to, but its nothing major. It should be watercooled too, which in my opinion is good. 240Zed
Hi Dennis Post them here, then everyone that wants to do the same thing can see them. Kenny, What do you mean by re-clock it?
Kennysgreen280zt
Clocking is changing the location of the housings in relation to eachother. They both rotate on the center section, and to aim the outlet of the compressor housing you just have to rotate it a bit.
Lurch2461
I stumbled across this web site the other day and maybe you might find it helpful if you can understand the translation. www.aurora.dti.ne.jp/~joinme/index.html I used altavista babelfish as a translation medium. 240Zed
Picked up the turbo yesterday. Its got 4 pipes coming off the center, so i guess its water cooled (2 oil, 2 water). Now I need an L28ET exhaust manifold to bolt it too.

Jason Jarvis
84 - 87 300ZX's used a T3, 88 and 89 got a T25. All but 84 were water cooled. There was never a ball bearing turbo fitted to a US VG30 as far as I know, so if it is BB, it's aftermarket. All VG30T's had a T3 flange, even the T25.
