Guest Anonymous
I am going to look at '76Z with a 355ci engine(bored 30 over). It has headers, dual exhaust and a 4 speed automatic. I plan to use it for a fair weather daily driver and occasional drag use. I am not familar with bored out V8 engines. Here's my questions:If the engine was built right will it be reliable? Will it be prone to over heating? Also any basic tips for evalulating the engine would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance. pparaska
I've never heard of a 0.030" over bore being a problem. Some race engine builders would sonic test a block before boring it, but 0.030" is very common and trouble free.
DavyZ
I seriously doubt you will have any overheating problems due to a overbored motor, especially a 355. Most Z overheating problems are caused by lack of adequate cooling (lack of enough radiator and/or fans w/shrouding). My $.
