Guest wakeboarder_37122
Im looking into getting a 81 280zx turbo,im unsure how many miles are on it becuase it rolls over at 100,000. I did a compression check and got 140 in the first two cylinders and 145 in the other four. I searched this forum and found nothing on what one should usually get. It runs really strong and has had a basic tune up. Although I checked the oil, I didnt see anything on the dipstick. So I put a quart in and it got to the bottom of the low line. So i figure it was about 2 quarts low. The valves do not make any noise and the motor sounds very solid. Any comments or opinions are welcome. Please no flaming,I searched. Im just getting into datsun's. Ive always had 240sx,although there getting a little popular and I want something new. Joe
Guest Cronic
147 is stock compression. That engine has good compression.
naviathan
Sounds like good numbers. Figure out where the oil is going, but with that compression I doubt it's the rings. Might be valve seals or a leaky gasket.
