Guest Anonymous
I recently found out that Volk makes a 17x9 TE-37 wheel in a zero offset fitment. Would this be able to fit if I had coilovers? I will either get 5x4.5" hubs or use 4 to 5 hole changers (10mm). http://www.volkracing.co.jp/lineup_1999/volkracing/FINISH/j_indx_te37.htm
pparaska
The backspacing needs to be more like 149mm, or 22mm offset (toward the outside of the wheel) for a 17x9 wheel to fit with coilovers. Note that this is with a Wilwood rotor hat that is 1/2" thick at the wheel mating surface, so for a stock drum, you'd need more offset or a spacer. jeromio
Looking for clarity on this whole wheel fitment thing: Pete's statement doesn't make sense to me. If a drum is used instead of the special disk brake hat, wouldn't that mean that less wheel offset sould be required? IE, for 1/2" less "hub", you would then need 1/2" (12mm) less offset for a net of 10mm wheel offset, or else a 10mm spacer. Not trying to be difficult, I'm just very confused (took about an hour of contemplation to understand backspace vs. offset) and I need to understand the wheel fitment requirements for the 240. pparaska
Duh, you're right. Less offset would be needed if you had thinner drums at the hat. Thanks for catching that! At least I had it right on my web page! ------------------ Pete Paraska - 73 540Z - Marathon Z Project pparaska@home.com Pete's V8 Datsun 240Z Pages
