chelle
My swap was planed to the extreme. Not my first swap. The motor was mated to the transmission in advance so all there was to do was drop it in one weekend. I had budgeted three months of spare time for the headers' date=' but had them together in about three weeks in a burst of energy. The rest of the time was devoted to the ancillaries, you know, plumbing fuel and coolant lines and such. The major headache for me was the fuel injection as I had never been there before. The rest of the car was set up for a V8 so this was basically an engine swap. Chelle, I see your car has made centerfold status. Congratulations. Your GTO is quite remarkable. You guys have done a wonderful job.[/quote'] thanx Glenn, Want to make a set of headers for me? lol What do you mean "centerfold status"? I'm working out some plumbing issues on the thing now actually.. I just posted elswhere: We've just been doing some detail work and some things on the engine. We eliminated the distributors so had to make covers over the end of the cams where the stock dist. drives were. Made a new drive hub and mounting bracket for the drysump pump, and put in a new RonDavis radiator (which necessitated making a spacer to redirect the waterneck as the radiator now has both inlet and outlet on the left side).. here's a pair of pics of the changes to the front of the engine. Additionally we had to replumb everything.. drysump, radiator, fuel system, etc.. tonight I'll post some pics with the tank/radiator/lines/ and filters back in it. The throttles are off and intakes taped shut in these pics as we are making some mods to them. Chelle

smash
HELLO!! and it's RHD as well - perfect! Surprised the extra length is as obvious as it is - hats off to your engineering skills - awesome job. I've noticed some GTO's have three side vents - are you tempted to add the extra, especially with the correct length you've created?
chelle
lol, well we did RHD just to be different - I had a Fairladyz a while back and like it Thanx for the compliment.. as far as adding the 3rd vent to the fender, some had three, I prefer the look of two... We might consider trading it for a TVR Tuscan T440R here's a couple other pics.. Firse is a decent view of the engine next the new RonDavis radiator then with the filters and dry sump tank fitted, finally, since you mentioned the Halibrand wheels - there's another car here running those - it really looks right on the Grand Sport corvettes behind the Vette is an insane Datsun with RB26DET..and the other side of the shop in the next pic is a 1000hp Harley that should do 228mph in the 1/4 mile it's more visible in last two
smash
Tuscan? Oh no - you really DO like working on cars, LOL! Speed 6 engine waranty claims are probably responsible for the state TVR's in now! And what with TVR going back to V8's in the form of the Melling lump - 2nd hand values of Tuscans are going to drop even lower than the ridiculous $30K entry point. That said the performance bargain is 4.5 AJP V8 Cerbera - 0-60 3.8 and 190 vmax for $20K entry 2nd Hand. The guy I bought my cobra from replaced it with a Tuscan - I spoke to him a while ago and he spent $18K on engine rebuilds. The orginal engine blew, the TVR rebuilt engine blew up whilst it was running in and so in the end they upgraded him to Red Rose spec FOC. He sent me a vid of it going thru the gears on a rolling road right the way up to 180mph - sounded awesome. Anyway that's just the road going Tuscs let alone the 440R. Hell of workshop you've got there, especially including the contents!
smash
Hey Rob - signed up to znet and found this stunning ZGTO hiding in last year's posts. A customer car of the Z Farm - the guy apparently has spent a bomb on it - check the roof line reprofile and genuine Boranis - and it has race correct interior. I'm in love but it's never gonna be for sale!
