Owen
I have done the rear disc brake swap on my '73 240Z. But there is no room for the wheel to fit on the spigot because the rotor is pretty wide. The wheel is just resting on the bolts that hold it on. Doesn't sound too safe to me! Modern Motorsports Ltd
Well if your wheel isn't seated properly and you can't bolt it down tight and have 80-100 thou clearance from your wheel to rotor/caliper then it's no good. Not sure what your 'spigot' is. Are you using steel wheels? Is the swap usually used on certain mags?? Just FWIW, the 6 spoke ZX wheels are only about 13lbs each which is sweet for OE wheels of that time. ------------------ Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. Guest kc6wfs
Can you run a spacer to get the rim flush? That might be your best bet. Dave Booth ------------------ www.geocities.com/kc6wfs/240z.html

Owen
Thanks for the info guys, Just doing some surfing at work and saw this one site that mentioned if the wheel is only sitting on the bolts, it could be a dangerous situation. The rotor is flush with the hub or spigot and there's no way I can see to get it sticking out more to support the wheel! I will try asking around at some of the wheel maker's sites. Guest Anonymous
Ah, you mean the centerbore of the wheel? The round part in the middle of the wheel and hub faces? If the wheels use tapered lugnuts you're probably OK..... I drove/autocrossed/drag raced/raced my 88 turbo on 245-45-16 slicks with non-centerbore wheels and never had a problem with them... Hrm. You can't really see, but they are non-centerbore wheels. PS. I think a friend of mine has those same wheels for sale.... diamond racing wheels, cheap, and might even have a pair or two of tires on them! 16x8 +20 in 5x4.5 bolt pattern. ------------------ Morgan http://z31.com/~morgan/s30 http://carfiche.com
