pjo046
Is it necessary to sand down to metal and reaply primer, filler and so on, or will it suffice to just smoothen out all surfaces, then apply a new primer and then the paint and clearcoat? MusPuppis
Nope, its not required. If your current paint is holding up and not chipping or flaking off theres no reason to remove it, just scuff it very well and go from there.
olie05
i have heard that in some cases it will be better to leave the original paint on the car than starting the whole priming process over again, for rust protection.
