The Big Question

This is somewhat long but the replies should be longer. I now have my Stable Autoworks Isabella body kit for my 78 280Z. For those of you that are not sure what this is, it is a replica of the 1962 Ferrari 250GTO. The old engine and trans are gone, frame rust repaired and now ready to start the good stuff. Unless a major problem arises, I will be using a new LS6 (or LS1) and T56 trans. I need to lower the car from 1.5 to 2 inches and the wheels will be 15inch Dayton wirewheel knockoff conversions. The front wheels will be 15x8 and the rear 15x10. I have a current twin tubo Z and realize that I can never duplicate the handling of that car, but would like to come close. What is the best route for brakes, front and rear suspension mods along with steering modifications. MotorSports gave me some suggestions, but keep talking about the V8 as if it would cause some unknown equation in regard to weight distribution. I do not need a set up for drag racing or one so rough you can't stand to be in the car more than a couple of miles. My wife wants to ride along also and for what this is costing, I can deal with that. I have read just about every comment on this site, but I really need a defacto standard for setting up the 78Z to brake and handle properly. I would like to do it RIGHT just once.

Well, you've come most of the way if you have read the postings and replies. Feel free to ask more specific questions because this is the best bunch of gearheads you will ever communicate with. In the meantime drop me a line at toxandale@spp.org. Being I live in LR, I'd like to take a gander at the prancing horse some time.

If I were you and looking for brakes, take a look in the buy & sell forum and look at what Mike Kelly is selling. Those should be enough brakes for you, unless you plan on some really serious track time. (and likely still good enough then)

Sounds like a great project!
