bakerz
Since I cracked a the head on my L24, and my lame automatic tranny went out, I have been talking to Eddie at Radatz motorsports down the road. He is putting in a L24 from a 1972 (my car is 1973). The engine has a performance cam in it and has been bored over (I havent asked how much). I bought MSA 6 to 1 headers and hes converting it to 5 speed. The only question is, should he rebuild and rejett my dual webers and put them on, or go with some stock carbs. I havent made up my mind yet but I think im going to go with the webers. Whats your opinion guys? The webers are more powerful, but use more gas right? And also is the mpg worth the extra power? Should I get the idiot proof carbs, or should i put the webers and get a book and learn more about them for future wear and tear? thx again
zeiss150
I believe that the side draft SUs are far better than the down draft webbers. The SU's can deliver enough fuel for a 2.8 or even 3.1 liter with the correct needle and nozzle combination. The SU's are simple to ballance and tune, and they stay that way! I have SUs on my L28 and it has lots of power and It never leans out at high RPM. The SU's are great carbs, don't underestemate them.
