Guest alien-e
I puchaced the drum to disc conversion brackets from Modern Motorsports a long while back, but never recieved any sort of instructions. I noticed that in many of the installs, they removed the hard lines and replaced them with straight hard line on both sides of the distribution block, then mated them to the braided stainless steel brake lines without the use of the mounting tabs. On another page, I see they use the original hard lines and tabs. So, I recently bought the 240sx calipers and mocked them up on my suspension. Looking at them, I'm having a hard time estimating measurements of the lines connecting the hard lines to the calipers. Can anyone tell me the length of the braided stainless steel brake lines that modern motorsports provides in their complete package?
Guest iskone
Tried these. I havn't done this swap or I'd help more. Have you tried using a piece of rope? http://www.nitrophotos.com/240z/reardisk.html http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/Calipers/zbrakeupgrade.htm Isk
Guest alien-e
Thanks for the links iskone, I've studied these pretty carefully. They don't really focus on the brake lines in either of these examples. Also, they don't mention the lengths of any of the lines, except for the 20" straight hard line that doesn't come with the kit.
Guest iskone
Just measure with a rope. You can use this link to to help with gain calculations, it's at the botoom. Isk
DaleMX
I did the swap about 5 weeks ago. I'm out of town right now, but when I get back I can give you the lowdown with some pics. I have put about 400 miles on the brakes and they work great, even the E-Brake!
Guest alien-e
I'm doing suspension work and can't set the car down on the ground to get the length at a normal ride height. It looks to be about 11" from the banjo to the place where the hard lines entered the wheel well from under the car. But that's with the shock at full extension. At 11" there is about 2 inches of slack. Should it be tighter at this distance? Also thanks, DaleMX. I can't wait to see some good images. If anyone can provide me the lengths any sooner, I would appreciate it.
Guest alien-e
Aside from missing a few pictures, I think this post answers my question nicely. Even answers some questions that I didn't add to this thread. I would still like to know what length the MM lines are if anyone knows. DaleMX
Thought I had pics, but can't locate them. Striking out today. I'll try to get under the car and measure them this weekend. Sorry about the delay.
