Austenp405
I was changing the brake pads on my 280ZX and they don't have the brake pad shims shown in the Hayne's manual. Are they critical for the performance and safety of the brake system, or just used to stop squeeling (which I can tolerate for at least a while)? I've searched on here and didn't find a conclusive answer. If worse comes to worse, I have a parts car I can pull them off of, but I'm in a bit of a time crunch right now. skipzoomie
Anti-squealing device. Not safety or performance related.
mario_82_ZXT
Some pads supposedly have a coating on the back that requires no shims. But what the hell... mine still squeak anyways.... Mario
