mull
Only manifolds I've seen holes in are OBX's and such ... What kind/brand are you using?
proxlamus©
stock cast iron turbo manifold .. =(
olie05
I'm sure you can weld it back up. Just make sure you heat up the manifold before you weld, otherwise it will crack again.
MrWOT
It takes very special tools to weld cast iron unfortunately. Start shopping for a new manifold.
DemonZ
There is at least one member here who has successfully MIG welded his turbo manifold with no pre-heating, peening, or other special treatment. He has put many thousands of trouble free mile on it too. Do a search.
MrWOT
That's amazing, I work with cast iron turbine housings everyday (water pumps) and they never hold longterm when welded, and they are under significantly less stress from heat cycling. Go figure.
Trecani
I knew a guy that blew a whole the size of his fist in a S14 exhaust manifold. Looked like a failed pipe bomb, took about 6 hours to weld together again, it happens more than you'd think.
Guest ON3GO
Ive welded stock cast manifold before, never once had a problem with them cracking again, atleast in that same spot. heat it up before you weld and weld HOT and FAST! mike
